Supported Independent Living (SIL) City Of Armadale, Western Australia

Smiles Care Service’s Supported Independent Living City Of Armadale service empowers people with disability to live more independently.

NDIS Supported Independent Living (SIL) – 24/7 Care

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is a model of disability support services with the overarching objective of providing people with disabilities with the aid and support they need to live as independently as possible, either in their own homes or in shared housing arrangements. SIL’s primary objective is to provide persons with disabilities with the tools necessary to take a more active role in the life of their communities and to exercise a greater degree of control over their own lives.

Throughout the process, our clients have choice and control, allowing them to choose where they want to live, who they want to live with, and who will support them. Our SIL houses have a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio depending on the needs of each client. Our SIL houses all offer 24-hour assistance.

We suggest activities that all of our clients might enjoy, and we encourage them to get involved in community activities, improve their skills, and achieve their goals.

Are You Eligible for SIL?

Smiles Care Service helps people with disabilities get the help they need to stay in their own homes. This is called Supported Independent Living (SIL), and the NDIS funds for it. It makes sure you get the help you need every day and teaches you skills that will help you be as independent as possible.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) program was developed for people with disabilities who require 24-hour daycare while living in SIL shared accommodation; however, you can also use them in your own home or at a private rental property.

The most important need is that you have significant support requirements and are consistently asking for help to qualify for independent living. If you need a large amount of face-to-face assistance from disability support workers then Supportive Individual Living (SIL) may be the best option for you.

National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) reviews each case and evaluates whether the assistance is ‘reasonable and necessary’ before deciding whether or not an individual is eligible for the program.

Our local teams of disability professionals provide tailored support to your specific needs. We’re here for you every step of the way, whether you need help getting out of bed in the morning, supervision throughout the day, help with household budgeting or want to learn how to do your own laundry.
