Individualised Living Options (ILO) is an NDIS support that enables people with disabilities to live in a home of their choice while receiving support. You have the ability to choose how you want to live, where you want to live, and who you want to live with.
ILO does not provide the house or dwelling itself, but rather a flexible package of supports in your home that are tailored to your specific needs.
Smiles Care Service will work closely with you to determine what you require to begin your ILO journey. Here’s what you should know.
Who can you live with?
You have complete control over who you live with with ILO. You can live with friends, housemates, or on your own. Here are a few examples of the options available:
- Housemates: You can live with other people (housemates) who will look after you and provide you with care, assistance, and companionship. Your housemates may be paid or have their rent reduced.
- Mentors: You might prefer to live in a home where you have chosen a small team of paid mentors to assist you. A mentor can devote significant time to providing direct and indirect assistance.
- Live on your own: You may prefer to live alone or with others, with the support of family and friends, as well as some flexible drop-in supports.
How we can help with your ILO goals
Housing-related supports are all accompanied by funding for support coordination. Because it is such a significant change with numerous components, a support coordinator can assist you in breaking it down and working with you to obtain the necessary supports.
